PHILLIP ISLAND

Went to Phillip Island and it made me homesick for Guam.  Something about it just gave me that little feeling.  I've been admittedly pretty stressed about feeling the need to make a movie again.  And naturally, being by the water kind of calms me down.  Anyways, I still have a movie I need to finish.  I just wish I had done it before I left.  I knew that after I left California I would be in a different mindset and it seems now all I can do is be inspired by other things.  Mentally, and physically, I am not in the same place anymore.

The worst part is, it is just on the brink of being finished.  The rest of the work is just cutting it down, syncing sound and having Devin do his magic on the soundtrack.  I can't wait to see what he does because whatever it is, it always ends up being perfect.  One way or another: It. Will. Get. Done.   Right?

GRANDMA PANTS

I really like these pants I have but hardly ever wear.  I guess I felt like a Grandma because of their cut but have decided to think of them more as Diane Keaton/Annie Hall pants.  I tried rolling them up and it turns out I like them a lot better that way.  Anyways, if anyone out there has grandma-pant-related problems this post is for YOU.  I can be like the Frasier Crane of senior citizen problems: For young people with old souls.

OUTSIDE MY WINDOW

And one of my all-time favorite songs.

How could you not be happy when this is outside your window?

PORT PHILLIP ESTATE

(This song reminds me so much of Guam--it plays at every BBQ--but is so appropriate for this post.)

Let me just begin with how cool my Dad is.  It was a long weekend because of Easter and Anzac Day-- which is Australia's equivalent to Veterans Day--just to catch you all up.  So my Dad, the coolest cat around, surprised my Mom and I by taking us out to a vineyard of his choosing.  Enter 'Port Phillip Estate'.  It was one of the most stunning places I have ever seen: sweeping vineyards, architecture with the most beautiful lines, a fully serviced restaurant with a menu of pure decadence, and of course, the delightful variety of wine.  I tried not to drool with my jaw on the pristine floor.  Take a look for yourself but let me take a moment to say how grateful I am that I have this experience to do things like this.  I swear my life isn't usually so exciting and fancy.

Raining when we left.
Sunny when we arrived.
Dad of the Year (1988-Now)
Goat cheese and pesto crostini
Oyster with salmon roe and special vinegar sauce, Corn soup with abalone and soy miso, Fresh salmon also with salmon roe and awesome dressing.
Breast of guinea fowl with lentils and bacon with a shepard's pie. MMMMM.
Dessert #1: Apricot tart.
#2: Chocolate molten-cake-like dessert with passion fruit, vanilla ice cream and carmel drip.

#3: Chocolate mouse, fig and vanilla bean ice cream.
Cherry chocolate with cappucino!
The most beautiful combination of words in the English vocabulary.  Donnie Darko anyone?
View outside as we left.
The beauty that is Australia.

BOTANIC GARDENS

FRIEND - DOKI from FRIEND on Vimeo.

The few days here with perfect weather I try to be outside all day.  Yesterday was one of those lucky days where I was graced with rays of Vitamin D.  I finally made it out to the Royal Botanic Gardens after running on the beach (which was glorious--please don't let my unheard voice sound nonchalant).  The place was huge and maybe one day I will get to see it all.  More than anything I enjoyed the vast array of colors and shapes, it was pretty visually inspiring.  Not to mention the fact that my lungs have been so thankful for the clean air here in Australia.  I didn't live in LA or anything...but still.

Ps. I hope any of you photographers out there enjoy the tid bit of a fact that I take my time exposing each picture manually.  Anyone I'm with when taking these pictures definitely doesn't.
