Ups And Down Under

I've been up to quite a bit lately. I started taking a class at the Australian Film Television and Radio School on Cinematography. I had an interview to start this pretty competitive volunteer position at the Australian Center of Moving Image (ACMI) and got it! I was 2nd Assistant Directing on this music video for an Australian band called the Stoics--which proved really fun and led me to meet a bunch of really awesome people. But also led me to see a bunch of naked men because of the nature of the music video: the singer runs around the city and everyone is naked. Hey, I'm not complaining. I also went into the country with about 12 guys and 4 girls (outnumbered!) to a place called Lawson's Lodge and had an amazing time dancing to nineties boy bands, frolicking around the ridiculous mansion lodge complete with cinema, spa, separate lodge with pool table and hanging out amenities etc, seeing my first kangaroo (!!!) and more than anything seeing Elly at her peak of all gloriousness (she was damn hilarious on this trip). I haven't laughed that hard in awhile.

I now feel like I have come to a point of absolute and necessary recovery. Elly and I are planning a trip to Sydney in a little over a week and I'm also about to start going into some pre-production for my friend Sophie's film--both of which I am really, really, really excited about. The movie sounds wonderful and I just can't wait to see how it all goes. Not to mention the fact that I even get to be a part of it just makes me feel more than lucky. Exciting stuff.

Despite being a bit busy I have been really missing my best friend, Hilary. Sometimes it just feels weird not to have someone who has known you for a long time to talk to and catch up with at the end of the day. Damn you time zone!! If you're reading this Hil: I love you long time.
